The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical
Book By Joe Tracz
Music & Lyrics By Rob Rokicki
The Rose Theater, Omaha
The original TheatreWorks tour of this show used scaffolding, doric columns, and soft goods to create a setting that felt like the ancient greek section of a history museum. We kept the DIY aesthetic and inventive reuse of objects, but set the whole show within the imagined world of a sleepaway camp, not unlike Percy Jackson's beloved "Camp Half Blood". Camping implements inventively stood in for all the objects- camping chairs for cars, bunk beds for buses, coolers for plinths, taxidermies for the Minotaur and Chimera. We used half masks to differentiate the Big Three Gods.
