Howie D: Back In The Day

Book, Music and Lyrics by Howie Dorough, Lisa St. Lou
                                                      and Tor Hyams

                                                The Rose Theater, Omaha
                                                    World Premiere

The last live show I directed before the COVID-19 shutdown, this was a world premiere co-written by and starring Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough (Howie D.). This autobiographical piece examined Howie's childhood challenges finding a peer group as a bi-racial kid in a mostly white prep school. His parents want him to do different things with his life but luckily, Howie finds the theater crowd and his creative passion is ignited. We set the piece in a colorful, dynamic, and musical environment bridging both Howie's upbringing in the 1980s and his current life as a pop-star.
