Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play
Co-Directed with Justin Perez
By Anne Washburn
Music by Michael Friedman
P45 Theatre, Traverse City, MI
Taking society from the immediate aftermath of an apocalyptic event through the next 100 years, this story about the often accidental and occasionally intentional transmission of culture follows a group trying to survive and write a better story. Years after the tragic incident, the group we follow is retelling Simpsons episodes by memory to survive. Many years after that, the operatic conclusion has only echoes of today's cultural artifacts, with a clear allegory about humanity's striving and humanity's survival.
